Teachings on Bohisattvacarya-avatāra, Engaging in the Bodhisattva Practices

At the request of Gyuto Tantric Monastery, Dharamshala, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave commentarial teachings, for 18 days (5 – 22 May 2022), on Śāntideva’s greatly renowned text Bohisattvacarya-avatāra, Engaging in the Bodhisattva Practices, in the main congregation vihara-hall of Gyuto Tantric Monastery.

With daily two sessions in the afternoon, His Eminence Rinpoche taught in details the bodhisattva practices, explaining intermittently the context of the verses in their Sanskrit counterparts, and presenting the insights through the greatly extensive Outlines of Gyaltsab Darma Rinchen (rgyal tshab dar ma rin chen).

The teachings this time completed up to Chapter Six, the chapter on Patience. For the benefit of those unlikely to make it to the future continuation of the teachings on the text, His Eminence Rinpoche gave the Transmission-blessing of all the ten chapters. A very large number of reincarnate lamas, Geshes, and monastic scholars from the major monasteries travelled from southern India and other parts of India and Nepal, to receive the teachings. The teachings were Live-streamed in both Tibetan and English.

On 26 May 2022, at the request of Gyuto Tantric Monastery, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche kindly bestowed a permission-blessing empowerment of White Manjushri and the Manjushri praise Your Intellect.

There followed a Tenzhuk, a formal request to kindly live long, offered to His Eminence Rinpoche, by Gyuto Tantric Monastery.
