Talks in Shimla
At the request of Kinnaur-Lahaul-Spiti Bodh Sewa Sangh, Shimla, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche headed to Shimla, from Delhi, by train, travelling via Kalka, arrived at Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, where His Eminence Rinpoche was accorded a revered welcome by the officials of KLSBSS; the dignitaries of the Institute; the Chief Officer of the local Tibetan settlement, Shimla; officials of Dodrak Monastery; and officials from the local Tibetan community.
In the evening of 20 April 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche graced the lamp-lighting ceremony, at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, to mark the Third Anniversary of the founding of Kinnaur-Lahaul-Spiti Bodh Sewa Sangh, Shimla.
His Eminence Rinpoche formally launched some books, and conferred felicitation certificates to the organisation’s members. Thereafter, His Eminence Rinpoche, as requested, gave a talk on the theme of “Dependent Arising” and answered questions.
Present at the talk were dignitaries from the Himachal Pradesh state government, professors, writers, judges and advocates, teachers, students, and others.
On 21 April 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave, in the main congregation hall of Dorjedrak Monastery, Shimla, a public talk on the requested theme of “The three trainings—Morality, Meditative Concentration and Wisdom,” and answered questions at the end. The President of Kinnaur-Lahaul-Spiti Bodh Sewa Sangh, Shimla, as the organisers of the talk, gave a speech of gratitude to His Eminence Rinpoche. The talk was attended by Kinnauri, Lahuali and Spiti Buddhist devotees of the area, and local Tibetan devotees and others as well.
Upon knowing of His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche’s visit to Shimla, the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, requested His Eminence Rinpoche to give, as part of their Distinguished Lecture Series, a lecture on the theme of “The power of Dharma in contemporary world”. His Eminence Rinpoche. His Eminence Rinpoche also answered questions at the end.
Prior to the lecture, Prof. Kapil Kapoor, the President of the Institute, gave an introduction on His Eminence Rinpoche.
Prof. Makarand Paranjape, the Director of the Institute, gave a felicitation speech, and at the end Shri Premchand, Secretary of the Institute, thanked His Eminence Rinpoche.
Present at the lecture was learned adepts, dignitaries, and others.
His Eminence Rinpoche departed Shimla the same day and via Kalka, by train, arrived in Delhi at night.
