Programs in Delhi
On 12 November 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche arrived in Delhi, from Sarnath.
In the morning of 13 November 2019, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche participated in the launch ceremony of a software produced by Delhi-based Ayur Gyan Nyas (Life’s Pristine-consciousness Trust), and launched the same. Ayur Gyan Nyas organisation plans syllabus for Universal Ethics, and is engaged with the project in 19 schools in India. His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche is the President of the organisation’s Board of Directors, and gives regular guidance and continues to lead it.
In the evening of 13 November 2019, organised by some friends, a felicitation ceremony took place in honour of the His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, at India International Centre, New Delhi. The event began with a welcome speech from the organising committee, followed by recitation of verses of auspiciousness, and reciting in Tibetan, Hindi and English of A special supplication prayer composed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama requesting His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche to kindly continue to live long, for the welfare of the teachings and sentient beings.
Thereafter, the organising committee offered His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche the three Represents (Enlightened Body, a statue of Buddha; Enlightened Speech, a text on Perfection of Wisdom; and Enlightened Mind, a stupa), as a formal rite of making a supplication, requesting to kindly live long. A felicitation publication and monastic robes were offered next. There followed speeches by Mr Rajiv Mehrotra the Secretary of His Holiness Dalai Lama’s Universal Ethics Trust; Prof Anand Kumar; and Dr Balmiki Prasad Sidha a former Secretary, Home Ministry, Government of India, and a former Governor of Sikkim.
A Tibetan song specially composed for the occasion was presented next. His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche gave a speech on the occasion. Next, Dr Kapila Vatsyayan gave a speech, and at the end a gratitude speech from the organising committee. The participants then offered His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche formal scarves and greetings. Lunch was offered to all by the felicitation organising committee.
