Mundgod Visit

In the afternoon of 10 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche arrived at Hubbali airport, where His Eminence was welcomed by the members of Drepung Loseling Tulku Association, the officials of Drepung Loseling Monastery, and the officials of Drepung Tsawa Khamtsen. His Eminence proceeded to Drepung Tsawa Khamtsen, Mundgod.

On 11 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave time for those seeking audience.

On 12 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche went to Drepung Lachi, for the welcome reception for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In the morning of 13 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche went to the Nechung invocation at Drepung Loseling. In the afternoon, His Eminence gave time for those seeking audience. In the evening, as requested, His Eminence went to the whole-night dialectical debates of Drepung Loseling Monastery, and observed them for about two hours.

In the morning of the 14^th, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche went to His Holiness the Dalai Lama opening the newly-built Dialectical Debate Courtyard of Drepung Gomang Monastery, and the transmission blessing by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the text Identifying the Mother—An Experiential Song on the View. In the afternoon, His Eminence gave time for those seeking audience.

In the morning of 15 December 2019, His Eminence went to the reception ceremony at Drepung Loseling, upon arrival of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, from Drepung Gomang. In the afternoon, His Eminence gave time for some 300 devotees from Mon (Arunachal Pradesh), a group from the United States, and others seeking audience.

In the morning of the 16^th, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche went to receive from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at Drepung Loseling Monastery, Longevity Empowerment of the Life-Retaining [Aspect of] Jey Tsongkhapa. In the afternoon, His Eminence gave time for devotees from Mongolia, the United States, Australia, Taiwan, and others seeking audience.

In the morning of 17 December 2019, during an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, for the reincarnate lamas of Drepung Loseling Monastery, convened at the upstairs Residence for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at Drepung Loseling Vihara Complex, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche joined the congregation. In the afternoon, His Eminence gave time for those seeking audience. In the evening, His Eminence received a group from Taiwan, for audience. Thereafter, His Eminence gave time for a Q/A session, for a group from the United States.

In the morning of the 18^th, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche participated in the formal meet, for His Holiness the Dalai Lama heading to Gadhen Monastery, from Drepung Loseling Monastery.

Subsequent to that, at the request of Dragyab Chutsang Rinpoche, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche inaugurated the Three Statues of The Abbot Shantarakshita, Teacher Padmasambhava Guru Rinpoche and King Trisong Dheutsan, built on Norbu Hill, near Camp Four, Mundgod. His Eminence also gave a talk on the occasion, with benefactors and the general public in attendance.

In the afternoon, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a public talk on “The greatly far-reaching deeds of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Tibetans’ responsibilities,” organised by Democracy Party, and convened in the main congregation hall of Drepung Loseling Monastery. His Eminence answered questions as well.

In the evening, His Eminence gave time for those seeking audience. Likewise, in the morning of 19 December 2019, His Eminence gave time for devotees seeking audience. Thereafter, His Eminence participated in the get-together of the reincarnate tulkus of Drepung Loseling, organised by The Drepung Loseling Tulku Association, at Zangbhūm Ladrang.

In the evening, His Eminence gave time for a group from Taiwan and others.

In the morning of 20 December 2019, His Eminence took part in His Holiness the Dalai Lama inaugurating the International Conference on Jey Tsongkhapa, convened at Gadhen Lachi.

In the afternoon, at the request of the Geshe officials, His Eminence gave a guidance talk to the Geshe officials of Drepung Loseling Monastery.

In the evening, His Eminence gave time for groups of devotees coming for audience from mainland China, Mongolia and other groups.

In the morning of 21 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche participated in the Gratitude Remembrance Meet on the occasion of the 600^th Anniversary of Jey Tsongkhapa’s mahaparinirvana, presided by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and convened at Gadhen Monastery.

In the evening, His Eminence gave a talk at the Conference on Jey Tsongkhapa’s Biography, convened at Gadhen Monastery. His Eminence also answered questions. The other speakers were Geshe Thupten Jinpa (Translator to His Holiness), and Geshe Rongpo Losang Nyendrak (a former Member of Parliament).

In the morning of 22 December 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche attended the Tenshuk Ceremony Requesting His Holiness to Kindly Live Long, offered by Gadhen Monastery and Drepung Monastery and convened at Gadhen Monastery.

In the evening, His Eminence gave audience time for a group from Singapore, and others.

On the 23^rd, His Eminence gave time for a large number of people seeking audience.

In the morning of 24 December 2019, His Eminence went to Gadhen Jangtse Monastery, at the formal seeing off of His Holiness the Dalai Lama departing Mundgod.

In the morning of the 25^th, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche left Drepung Tsawa Khamtsen, by car, and later arrived at Valley School, Bengaluru.
