In New Delhi and Ladakh
On 23 July 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche departed Dharamshala, for New Delhi, and attended the meeting of Ayur Gyan Nyas.
On 24 July 2019, at the request of the scholar Shri Udayana Vajpayee, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a detailed interview for the periodical Samaas. Thereafter, as per prior schedule, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche met several dignitaries. In the evening, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche attended a meeting of Ayur Gyan Nyas.
In the morning of 25 July 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche departed New Delhi, for Leh, Ladakh, and upon arrival at Leh airport His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche was accorded a revered welcome by a large number of people, comprising of the Director of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Ladakh; the officials of SEBoL, the officials of Flowering Dharma spiritual organisation; and other dignitaries.
In the afternoon of 26 July 2019, requested and organised jointly by Flowering Dharma and Local Futures, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a guidance talk at the inaugural session of the four-day workshop on the theme of “Mindful Futures”, at Youth Cultural Centre, Leh. His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche also answered questions. Besides local youths, there were people from abroad at the guidance talk.
From 29 July 2019 until 30 July 2019, for the three days, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave commentarial lectures on the anthem—composed by His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche—of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh. The lectures were for Kyabjey Gyaltsas Bakula Rinpoche Memorial Address. His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche also answered questions. In attendance at the lectures were the institute’s Director, professors and lecturers, officials, students and members of public.
In the afternoon of 28 July 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche visited Ladakh Rocks and Minerals Preservation, Study and Museum, located near Shey Monastery, Leh, and appraised the proprietor Mr Phunstok Wangchuk the importance of the displays and gave guidance as regards their care. Thereafter, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche paid a holy visit to Alchi Monastery, which was founded by Lochen Rinchen Zangpo, the great translator who had contributed greatly towards flourishing forth of Buddha’s teachings in Tibet.
On 31 July 2019, at the joint request—and organised—by Socially Engaged Buddhist of Ladakh (SEBoL), Flowering Dharma Centre and Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, His Eminence Prof Samdhong Rinpoche gave, in Arya Nagarjuna Auditorium, of the institute, a talk on the theme of “Ethics in Education, Economy, Social Life and Policy Making). His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche also answered questions.
In the morning of 1 August 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a guidance talk on Ethics, to the members of Flowering Dharma Centre, and answered questions as well. In the evening, the officials of Socially Engaged Buddhists of Ladakha (SEBoL) sought an audience with His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche and presented a report of their recent works on education in Leh, Ladakh. At the end of listening to their report His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche gave a guidance advice.
Thereafter, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche paid a holy visit to the ruins of Nyarma Vihara-temple of Maryul, one of the three major vihara temples founded by Lochen Rinchen Zangpo.
In the morning of 2 August 2019, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche departed Leh, by air, for Jammu, and then headed for Dharamshala, by car, arriving there in the evening.
