Guidance talk at College for Higher Tibetan Studies – Sarah
In the morning of 19 August 2019, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche graced the inaugural function of the 13th Conference on Tibet Studies, of the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, Dharamshala, and gave a talk on the requested theme of “Development of [His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s] Thoughts on sustaining Tibet’s future and culture.”
Organised by Youth Team of the college, and convened in the college’s vihara-temple, the three-day conference’s theme was “Studying the development of thoughts, from the guidance advice given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the past 60 years”.
The session started with His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Chief Guest, lighting the ceremonial lamp, followed by singing of the Tibetan national anthem by all, standing, and then serving to all of ceremonial tea and dresil-rice.
Mr Dhargye, the President of Sarah Youth Team, gave an introductory speech, outlining the objectives of the conference. Thereafter, Geshe Samten, the Director of the college, gave an introduction on the institute, both the main and the branch campus.
Subsequent to that, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche gave the guidance talk, pointing out the difference between mere knowledge and a valid field of knowledge, the vastness and the profundity to do studies on the development of thoughts from the guidance advice given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the past 60 years, and other related details.
His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche also answered questions.
There followed Mr Dhargye, the President of Sarah Youth Team, in gratitude, thanking His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche. At the end, Mr Choegyal Tsering, the Secretary of Sara Youth Team, gave a speech of thanks to all.
