Enlightening benevolent deeds in Arunachal Pradesh – northern India

At the repeated request of local monasteries and educational institutions, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche travelled to Arunachal Pradesh, northern India, and gave a series of teachings, guidance talks, empowerments and gave audiences to innumerable people, including local administrators and dignitaries.

North India 1From New Delhi His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche left for Arunachal, on 9 May 2016. Upon arrival at Guwahati airport Rinpoche was welcomed by the Abbot of Gontse Monastery, Bomdila; the monk Officials of Gyuto Monastery, Tenzingang; the Settlement Head of Tenzingang Tibetan Settlement, and others. At Gyuto Monastery, Tenzingang, Rinpoche was welcomed by the monks of Gyuto Monastery, the officials of the Tibetan settlement, and a large number of general public.

In the morning of 10 May, at the request of Gyuto Monastery, Rinpoche kindly bestowed a White Tara Longevity-empowerment, in the teaching hall. Besides the members of sangha (the ordained community), a large number of people—from Tenzingang Tibetan Settlement, and from the surrounding areas of Rupa and other—received the empowerment.

North India 2From Tenzingang, Rinpoche headed to Bomdila, on 11 May. On the way there, at the prior request of devotees at Rupa, Rinpoche visited the local monastery, and gave a guidance Dharma talk in the congregation hall of the monastery.

Various communities had built welcome gates and the locals stood in welcome-line throughout the way to Bomdila, where at Gontse Monastery the officials of the monastery and the general public welcomed Rinpoche into the main Congregation Hall and offered formal reception and request to kindly continue to live long.

From 13 May 2016 till 20 May 2016, at the request of Gontse Gaden Rabgyeling Monastery, Bomdila, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave daily teaching on Tsongkhapa’s middling-length treatise on Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. During these series of teachings on the treatise, Rinpoche completed the section on Training on small capable practitioner’s path.

North India 3Each day, after the teachings Rinpoche kindly gave time for many people, for audience, blessing and guidance. Besides the local populace of Bomdila, many devotees came from Tawang, Lumla, Lhahu, Jang, Senge-Zong, Dherang, and other outlying areas, to received Rinpoche’s teachings.

In the evening of 16 May 2016 Gontse Monastery’s scholars from seven grades presented to Rinpoche a display of dialectical debate. The same evening attended the Parinirvana Anniversary of Kunkhyen Tsona Rinpoche.

At the request of Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies, Dahung, Arunachal Pradesh, Rinpoche gave a guidance talk the requested theme of “Life’s Career” to the students of the Institute, in the afternoon of 22 May 2016.

Also, on way back to Guwahati, at the request of the devotees at Bhalukpong, Arunachal Pradesh, Rinpoche gave a Dharma guidance talk at the local Temple, in the morning of 23 May 2016.
