Address at the memorial of the patriotic martyr Washul Rigzin Dhondup

At the request of the organising committee of the 60^th Anniversary Memorial of the patriotic martyer Washul Serta Ponchen Lhase Rigzin Dhondup, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche attended, as the Chief Guest, the memorial meet on 15 August 2019, at Club House, Dharamshala.

The programme began with His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche offering a reverence khatak-scarf to the photograph of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, followed by lighting of the offering lamp, and then everyone singing, while standing, the Tibetan national anthem, and observing two minutes silence in respect of the patriotic compatriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for Tibet.

As the Chief Guest, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche launched a memorial book on Washul Rigzin Dhondup, published by the memorial organising committee.

Thereafter, Golok Jigme, the President of the Memorial Committee, and a former political prisoner, gave an introductory speech, outlining the objectives of the memorial meet. Serta Tsultrim Woser (former MP) and an advisor of the memorial organising committee, narrated a biography of Washul Rigzin Dhondup. There followed speeches by the special guests Geshe Gangri (the President of the Dhome Central Committee) and Mr Thupten Lungrig (a former President of the Tibetan People’s Deputies, a former cabinet Minister and incumbent Member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile).

In the guidance address, the Chief Guest, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche pointed out in great details, the great importance of holding such a memorial meet, the way of commemorating a meaningful, actual memorial, and so forth.

Thereafter, His Eminence Prof. Rinpoche presented appreciation scarf and awards to those who had worked for and supported the memorial meet. At the end, Rigpa Gyatso, the Deputy President of the organising committee, gave a gratitude speech, thanking all.
