A talk at the G. L. Agarwala memorial meet
In the evening of 14 March 2020, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche graced, as the Chief Guest, the memorial meet on the occasion of the first anniversary of G. L. Agarwala’s passing away, organised by the organisation GLP Social Circle and convened in the great international hall of Shrimanta Shankaradeva, Guwahati, Assam.
The meet commenced with His Eminence lighting the ceremonial lamp, followed by conferring of felicitation mementos, on behalf of the organisers, to the guests. Thereafter, Shrimati Neha Agarwal, the Director of GL Publications Ltd., gave the welcome speech. Dr Mukundakam Sharma, a former judge of the supreme court of India, gave a speech on the life and works of the late Shri G. L. Agarwala.
There followed an introduction of the Chief Guest, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche. Thereafter, His Eminence gave a talk on the theme of “Seeking Peace and Justice”. His Eminence pointed out that under the present system of globalisation it would be difficult to attain peace and justice. His Eminence then presented extensively the things that need to be done for attaining genuine peace and justice.
Dr Kuladhara Sekiya, the president of Assam Sahitya Sabha, gave a talk. The memorial meet concluded with Shri Samir Agarwal, the president of GLP Social Circle, giving the speech thanking all. The participants comprised of academics, political leaders, teachers and others. GLP Social Circle had several months in advance requested His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche to grace the meet as the Chief Guest.
At noon on 15 March 2020, His Eminence departed Guwahati and arrived in Delhi, and in the morning the next day His Eminence left Delhi and arrived in Dharamshala.
