Profound commentarial teachings on the Thirteen-Deities Vajrabhērava at Gyuto Tantric Monastery
At the request of Gyuto Tantric Monastery, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave commentarial teachings on the Thirteen-Deities Vajrabhērava’s two stages, from 12 April 2016 till 25 April 2016, at Gyuto Monastery, Dharamshala.Those receiving the precious commentarial teachings comprised of Gyuto Abbot Jado Rinpoche, the former Abbot Khensur Rinpoche Losang Choekyi Gyaltsen, the former Abbot Khensur Rinpoche Tenzin Jampa, and over a thousand sangha practitioners from the three Seat monastic universities, Gyudme, Gyuto, Tashilhunpo, Ratoe, and other monastic institutions, and lay devotees.
The commentarial teachings were based on Jey Akhu Sherab Gyatso’s commentarial text, of which the transmission-blessing was also kindly bestowed by His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, along with the commentarial explanations.
Upon arrival of His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche at Gyuto Monastery, on the morning of 12 April 2016, the Officials of the monastery welcomed Rinpoche. In the afternoon Rinpoche began the commentarial teachings, in the main Congregation Hall of Gyuto Monastery. Prior to the actual commentarial teachings His Eminence Rinpoche instructed on the need to set the right benevolent motive in receiving the teachings.
Pertinent to the current situation Rinpoche also, on the side, advised on the need to enhance our collective merits, during such critical times we are going through, and that we need to remain in unity, with sound bondship.
On 13 April 2016, the second day of the teachings, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche commenced the session with advice on the stages of the preliminary motive, a general introductory explanation on Tantra, and thereafter began the actual commentarial teachings on Jey Sherab Gyatso’s text. The teachings continued for the next fourteen days, as scheduled, and on 25 April 2016, Rinpoche completed the commentarial teachings, along with the transmission-blessing, of the entire text, covering both stages—Generation Stage and Completion Stage—of the Thirteen-Deities Vajrabhērava.
In the morning of 26 April 2016 His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche kindly bestowed the subsequent-permission empowerments of Vajrasattva and Samayavajra.
Thereafter Gyuto Monastery offered a Tenshuk (Formal Request to live long), requesting His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche to kindly live long for hundreds of eons, that Rinpoche’s noble benevolent deeds greatly beneficial to Tibet’s spiritual and secular needs be devoid of hindrances and that they be spontaneously accomplished. Reverend Jado Rinpoche, the honourable Abbot, presided as the Vajra-Teacher, representing the Monastery, in making the Request, which was combined with Vajrabhērava Tsog-Offering from the entire congregation.
There followed luncheon with Gyalwa Karmapa, and the former Abbots and the present Abbot of Gyuto Monastery.
