Guidance around Dharamshala
At the request of the Tenzhuk Ceremony Organising Committee of Yardok, in the evening of 25 June 2022, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a guidance talk to the people of Yardok region of Tibet, in the conference hall of Norbu Hotel, Dharamshala.
In the morning of 26 June 2022, the people of Jhol, Kontserawa and Gyalthang, of Tibet, offered His Eminence Rinpoche a Tenzhuk Formal Request to Kindly Continue to Live Long. Convened in the vihara-temple of Gyuto Monastery, Dharamshala, the rites of the ceremony were performed through Lama Choepa (Delighting One’s Teacher).
In the evening, at the request of the Tenzhuk Ceremony Organising Committee of Jhol-Kong-Gyal, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a guidance talk to the people of Jhol, Kontserawa and Gyalthang. This Tenzhuk Request to Live Long was in conjunction to the Tenzhuk offered to His Holiness the Dalai Lama by the people of Jhol-Kon-Gyal, a few days earlier, where His Eminence Rinpoche was the Presiding Teacher of the Tenzhuk rites.
Beginning with the appreciation for the effort put in organising and travelling to Dharamshala to offer the Tenzhuk to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Eminence Rinpoche advised the need now to rejoice on the greatly karmically fortunate opportunity to have offered the Tenzhuk, and the success of it, that His Holiness has kindly accepted and expressed so to kindly live long. As regards today’s Tenzhuk offered to His Eminence Rinpoche, His Eminence explained the understanding of “Tenzhuk”, To Live Stably (To Live Long), that it would be applicable only to those who have gained mastery over their rebirth and death, otherwise there would be the danger of committing “the lie of claiming attributes higher than humans’”, and that it would mismatch with the wordings of the Gratitude Mandala-Offering, “in gratitude of having well received the acceptance” to live long.
Apart from conceding to Tenzhuk request at the completion of a teaching, in order to revere the greatness of the Teachings, His Eminence expressed reluctance to accept any other Tenshuk.
Reminiscing the times His Eminence visited the area of Kontserawa and Gyalthang, besides that of the birthplace Jhol, during the age of seven, and when travelling to receive the sramaner vows from the great Teacher Kyabjey Zangbhum Rinpoche, His Eminence Rinpoche said the affiliation to the three-part region is factual, and that it is a decent behaviour to care for those of one’s affiliation. As for someone who is ordained, ‘renounced of household for without-household’, one is in a great equanimity of caring for all.

In the morning of 7 July 2022, at the request of the Geluk International Foundation, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche gave a speech at the inaugural ceremony of Geluk International Foundation’s The Buddhist Institute, convened in the hall of Namgyal Monastery, Dharamshala. Others who also spoke were the Chief Guest His Eminence Gadhen Trichen Dorjechang, His Eminence Jangtse Choejey Gosok Rinpoche, and the Special Guest the Honourable Education Minister of the Central Tibetan Administration. The Honourable Abbots of the various monasteries participated in the ceremony.
In the afternoon of 29 July 2022, at the request of Norbulingka Institute, Dharamshala, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche conferred certificates to the graduates of the Institute’s Teacher Training Course, in the Institute’s vihara-temple, at the concluding ceremony of the intensive Teacher Training Course. His Eminence Rinpoche gave a guidance talk on the requested theme of “Education Policy in General, and the Principles of the Basic Education Policy of the Central Tibetan Administration”. His Eminence Rinpoche also answered questions.
In the morning of 8 August 2022, His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche graced, as invited, as the Presiding Teacher at the Tenzhuk-Formal Request to Live Long offered to His Eminence Kirti Rinpoche, the Light of Teachings, of Rongchen, in the main hall of Kirti Monastery in exile. His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche also launched the 11-volume The Multitude of Gem-Stars of Knowledge Heritage written by the scholar Raedo Senge. Besides, His Eminence Rinpoche conferred a Golden Souvenir to His Eminence Kirti Rinpoche, and gave a guidance talk to all the scholars and students of Kirti Monastery.
